What is the purpose of the McNeil Athletic Booster Club?
The McNeil Athletic Booster Club is an organization composed of parents, staff, alumni and friends that supports all sports at McNeil High School by raising money to purchase supplies, equipment, uniforms, and/or capital items beyond what the school athletic budget provides.

What is the membership fee for the Athletic Booster Club?
The family membership fee is $20. $10 of the membership fee goes into the activity fund of the sport you choose.  If your child participates in more the one sport or if you have multiple children playing on athletic teams, any donations above the $20 membership, $10 of it can also be given to a second sport's activity fund.

My daughter plays spring softball, should I wait until spring before joining the booster club?
No, you should join the booster club as early as possible in the school year. As soon as you join the booster club, your child's sport's activity fund is credited with the $10. This gives the coach some upfront activity fund money prior to the season starting. Also, by becoming a Booster Club member early, you not only will help our young athletes have a more enjoyable and rewarding high school experience, but you also will make new friends and derive satisfaction in knowing that you have enriched the McNeil High School community.

How often are the Athletic Club Booster meetings and where are they held?
The Athletic Club Booster meetings are quarterly this year and are held in room 2G204 (upstairs of the gym in the south corner). The first 2007-08 meeting is on Monday Sept. 10 7PM. The 2007-08 membership form can be found at the MavSports.Net web site.  Just fill out the membership form and bring it to the first meeting or mail it to the address on the form.

Is there a McNeil Athletic Booster Club email distribution list that I can join?
Yes, the McNeil booster club has a Yahoo Group (MavSports) that we use for our email distribution. You can sign up for it

Why does McNeil only have one Athletic Booster Club, other schools in RRISD have a booster club for each individual sport?
The biggest reason is one large booster club has the ability to help and support all sports. One booster club can help sports that are not normally money making sports and does not get financial assistance that large more "popular" sports receive. The McNeil Athletic department believes that one booster club enables McNeil to have the ability to make large purchases that individual booster clubs would have a difficult time doing. The expensive items that are needed will be very difficult to purchase and basically some sports will not get the support that is needed and desired. Although McNeil's larger sports such as football will always be able to have the revenue for these items, some sports such as tennis, golf, swimming would be left out.  The McNeil Athletic department believes that these kids deserve to have the opportunity to have assistance just as those other sports. Finally, separate booster clubs are always going after the same markets. Sponsors, businesses, and supports get down by the constant barrage from 15 different booster clubs. It can give McNeil a black eye with these people. It is the job of the McNeil Athletic department to make sure all booster clubs are in compliance with RRISD policy, UIL policy, and TEA policy. This can be a large problem if any of the separate booster clubs break any laws that can result in serious violations that can hurt those sports, schools, parents, and students. That will never be the case at McNeil high school.

What if I want to get involved in the Athletic Booster Club, what do I do?
The Athletic Booster club is always looking for volunteers and people with new ideas.
